Any information on which area may be a better option in terms of crime, growth, schools, commute (I realize that they are both "out there"), community plan, etc. My hubby and I are considering a move to that area, and since we are about 2000 miles away, we need to do most of our reseach on paper first. We have four children to put into the mix as well, ages 8 and under. Any info is great info, thanks!

The only way you'll be able to make a decision on what area will fit you and your family best is to go out there for a week or so and drive around both areas, look at the houses, shopping, schools, etc. When I first decided to move to AZ from MI, I had pretty much decided on Queen Creek. Now, a year later (still haven't sold my house in MI) I'm leaning more toward Maricopa. I keep going out to AZ to visit and check out different areas to see if I can find what suits me best.

Going out there is the only way you'll be able to make any kind of decision. Best of luck!

I agree that visiting is the best way to see what you like, here are some of my threads about Maricopa

I believe posting links to other forums is generally frowned upon on most forums... might want to edit your post before the mods do.

While you might be right about links to other forums being frowned upon, I found the Maricopa forum to be very enlightening and wanted to say I appreciated that!! The thread about people being underwater on their homes was downright scarey.

Keep in mind that the linked forum above generally has a lot of people who like to complain about everything. There is not much useful or positive information there, unfortunately. It used to be much better. However, I don't think QC has it's own forum -- so it's difficult to compare.

As for the housing problem, it is pretty bad for most, if not all, of the out-lying areas of Phoenix. QC has just as many foreclosures as Maricopa.

Thanks guys for your responses! I really do appreciate the links, frowned on or not. Any information is certainly useful, especially since we will be doing most of our homework from North Carolina.

Maybe because they liked living there originally (like everyone does when they move to a new place) and now they hate it. I have a friend out there, he used to love it and now he hates it. Cities change, especially that one. I was out in Maricopa yesterday, and the main road is just one big strip mall.
