Hi there. My husband is considering taking a job in the Glendale area and I am soooo overwhelmed by the various areas surrounding Phoenix. We will be visiting next month, but I'd like to narrow down our search somewhat by then.

What would be the best school district(s) that are within a reasonable commute to Glendale? We are looking to purchase a newer rambler with a minimum of 1600 sq ft. I really like master planned communities, but would consider a neighborhood that isn't. We can go up to about $400,000, but we would like to stay under 350k if possible. Can anyone suggest certain zip codes I should search within?

Thanks so much!

Zips I would recommend would be 85308, 85382, 85383. All very nice areas with good schools.

I completely agree with Sablebaby, those are the 3 zip codes I would recommend, I have lived in 2 of the 3. You will be looking at a wide range of homes from the low 200's up to million dollar homes in 85308 and 85383. 85308 is Glendale and the Deer Valley school district, 85383 and 85382 are Peoria and Peoria school districts with I believe both have better reputations than other areas of PHoenix.

Specific neighborhoods I would look into are Sierra Verde, Arrowhead Ranch, Fletcher Heights, Westwing Mountain, Sonoran Mountain Ranch and Vistancia.

I agree with sablebaby and WantingoutofAz. Great communities and excellent schools. Welcome soon to "Phoenix"!

Ditto, Sablebaby nailed it. You should contact a realtor to map out possible homes to look at. Good hunting

The Peoria Unified School District has a great reputation. Deer Valley is also good.

check out greatschools.net

Depends on what age your kids are. Litchfield Park is pretty good I think. We live in West Phx and are hoping to move to LP soon. Drive our kids to Villa Montessori right now.
