I'm getting so irritated by places letting their tree branches overhand so much beyond the legal limit, so irritated by walking into them at night. I've complained to the city department, but it's slow going. I have a fantasy of carrying around a machete and hacking them off.

It's a tree. Move around it. Appreciate the little green we have.

You'd get arrested for vandalism. The tree huggers would lynch you from one of the branches that you forgot to lob off and birds would use your car for a practice bombing site.

Go seek some counseling. It sounds like you are going to move on to barking puppies next.

There are laws governing the maximum size knife you are allowed to carry on your person, generally 4" to 6" depending on state. If you were to walk around with a big honking machette the chances are somebody would see you and call the police and you would end up arrested for carrying an illegal weapon.

I sympathize with you but I suggest you carry common garden shears.

They would probably accuse you of being a snowbird and start complaining, or the height and ordinance crowd would say the machete is too tall.
The red and blue crowd would complain of your independent status, and the boarder crowd would probably agree with you.
