Do you guys know what the status is for Fiber? - There was an article recently that it comes to more metro areas but Phoenix was not in the list? When will it come? -Thanks.

Phoenix was not in the last round of approved cities. We are still listed as 'potential'. Fiber coming here next year is highly unlikely.

I'm very curious about where broadband is going in the Phoenix metro - anyone have any insight into the next 3-5 years? I know that CenturyLink is doing a fiber project, and Cox is boosting their standard speeds for cable internet service, but it'd be nice to know where they're going. :-)

Also cost. Compared to Germany we pay way way more here.

I heard we were off the list...there were too many local obstacles (i.e. CenturyLink and Cox right of way) for them to move forward.

Sucks they they passed on us I'm getting sick of cox. My internet went up $4 to $77.99 and it's getting hard to justify the price for highspeed internet.

Google announced recently that they don't have plans for fiber in Phoenix.

Phoenix is not "off the list". It was simply not chosen as part of the next round of expansion. Google lists it as "potential fiber city".

We're also continuing to explore bringing fiber to five additional metro areas--Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Antonio and San Jose, and will have updates on these potential Fiber cities later this year
