I haven't seen anything recently about Johnson Ranch. Everything from the past 2008 was very negative. I'm looking to move to the area and I was interested if any of the bad stuff mentioned is better same or worse.

You might want to do a google search on Johnson Utilities. That should give you some good insight - there are a few Facebook groups as well in San Tan Valley and you'll find many people who live in Johnson Ranch who can give you their opinions on the neighborhood as well.

Hey Jmug, I live near there in San Tan Valley. JR is kind of interesting. It's not so much "run down" as it is inhabited by kind of lower income folks. Not trying to disparage anyone, it's just hard to describe otherwise. It's not a "high crime area" by any means but the majority of vandalism, juvenile crime, car thefts, etc., in this area happen over there. Personally, I suggest nearly any other subdivision except JR. If you are already nearby take a drive around or if you're not, use Redfin.com to take a peek. I'm in the far east side and love it here. Good luck!

Old thread but I'll add just for anyone interested in San Tan Valley.

San Tan is a growing little town. I go up there sometimes to visit a friend and I'm quite impressed with how much it's growing and all the new shopping that is going in at the Queen Creek Mall. No longer is it a long drive to shop or for entertainment. There are a few more new neighborhoods in the pipeline around there. It's all quite affordable as well.
