I am on the Section 8 housing program, I am disabled and unable to work, my problem is this, my father just recently passed and has left us kids a small inheritance, just enough to pull me and my son off section 8 and straight in to the "poor house". within 2 years time I will be flat broke, unable to pay medical bills, and no section 8!
My question to you is, how can I protect this money until such a time I NEED it? Any legal ways?

Are you asking for legal ways to hide it from the gov't?

It sounds like you need the money now. Can't you get back on section 8 when the money's gone, i.e. 2 years from now?

My condolences.

This forum is probably not the best place to get an answer to your question, you might want to check with organizations that are familiar with the federal housing programs like Section 8 who can advise you. This is a federal program, not a city-based one.

EDIT: A Google search found this link, which under lump sum awards, says that inheritances DON'T count toward income calculations. You may want to do a little more checking! http://www.canhr.org/publications/ne...NN_2004Q4.html
