Having been to Phx area many times I know you do have a lot of heavy traffic. Reminds me of when I lived in Chgo. But,wow, your roads are so smooth and beautiful!! No tooth rattling humps or bumps,no huge potholes. It was just a real pleasure to drive around. It was also pretty hot the last couple times (115) but we are always amazed at how you are never all sticky and wet like we are on a hot day in Milwaukee--sweat evaporation??? You also have some spectacular scenery and historical and cultural sites just a short drive away. Outside of Lake Michigan we have to go a lonnnnng way to see anything that will take your breath away. Just thought I'd give you a few compliments.

Clever questions, Lorih

The Freeways are smoother because we have no ugh freezing weather to ruin them.

As far as "getting sticky" while the temperature is well over 100 degrees . . . don't be fooled, YOU ARE SWEATING, but due to the super low relative humidity the moisture is evaporating as fast as you perspire, possibly even faster.

Plus, most (if not all) of our freeways have been re-paved with "rubberized asphault" over the last few years. This makes for a smoother and more quiet ride.

I think I'm one of the few that acutally misses the old concrete surfaces. Made me feel like I was going fast. =D
