I'm going to be at the Hilton Garden Inn Midtown in a few weeks.

Will it be really cold? Is it OK to walk around during the day? night?

I have the Monday night free before a conference the next day. What's something to do? Besides drinking... I don't really drink.

If you are a basketball fan, check and see if the Suns are playing in town that night. The arena is downtown. It could be warm, mild, or even cold that time of year. Just be prepared for either kind of weather during the day, and coldish at night.

It's a safe area, should not be "really cold" (whatever that is to you ) at that time, (it is Phoenix, after all) but it could be chilly , especially at night, so bring a jacket. The Suns game idea is a good one, also you are right on the light rail line, so you could take a ride out to Tempe and look around Mill Avenue and ASU. Heard Museum is also due south of you on the rail line, it's a great museum of Native American history and culture in the southwest, Phoenix Art Museum is a little further south. I don't know how much time you have available during daytime hours, but both of those are worth a look if you have time, particularly the Heard, which is unique and world-renowned.

I'm going to be staying on N. Central Ave. about a mile or two north of I-10... may or may not have a car... is there any shuttle to the stadium or anything like that? Looks like the stadium itself is kind of out in the boonies.

Boonies is the perfect word haha. There are fields across the street from the stadium!

I have no idea why it's that far out there, it's really unfortunate for me because I'd love to go to some games but I don't want to drive there, pay for parking, run the risk of a DUI if I drink, get stuck in traffic, etc...

It kind of depends on where you're from to determine if you think it'll be cold or hot. If you're from Minnesota you'll be walking around in a t-shirt

Seriously though it should be a little chilly at night and a light coat would work well.

That Hilton and pretty much all of midtown is a very safe and nice area, no worries walking around.

The only shuttle I can find from outside Glendale is from out in the East Valley-- you might want to contact the Cardinals office and see if they know of something that could help you.

what about scalping action at the stadium? do the games typically sell out? if I went without a ticket would I be able to either pick one up on the cheap or buy one at the box office?
