Anyone commute from Philly to Manhattan for work on a daily basis?

If so, how much is a monthly pass? Is it worth it?

I know a person who does, one of my co-workers here does....He uses megabus everyday....Says that he got used to it after about 2 weeks, actually likes it because he can get a nap on the way to work....

Megabus work based on the earlier you book the cheaper your ticket, he told me last week he was already booked up to Sept paying 1$ each way everyday, says he paid about 60$ a month...getting the early bird tickets....

He's says to do the bus to NYC everyday its best to find something in CC so that you can walk to home after getting off the bus, because you're wiped out and really dont want to have to take another mode of transportation....

He loves the NYC pay living on Philly Rent....for that he'll take dealing with the longer commute...To be honest I was considering at one point (I love CC Philly) but I just can't bring myself to do that commute. Going down to Philly on weekends is a breeze, just not everyday.

Glad to hear that Megabus is a viable option for commuting to NYC although it does require some proactivity to get those cheap fares.

The other two options are Amtrak and a combination of SEPTA and NJ Transit with a changeover in Trenton, NJ. For the latter, you can find the rates at SEPTA | Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority and New Jersey Transit - Home . It's likely at least 50% less than Amtrak. Amtrak runs the same route except with no PA stops after the main one at 30th Street and fewer NJ stops. The SEPTA/NJ Transit combo would take a little over two hours while with Amtrak it would be about an hour and a half.

One thing about SEPTA to NJT is that transfer in Trenton - SEPTA and NJT are two seprate companies they will not wait for each other if one is late! and this happens often from my expereince with them....So you could have as much as an Hr wait in trenton...

2nd - between SEPTA and NJT there are ALOT of stops i do mean alot. by the time SEPTA gets you from 30th to trenton an express bus like Bolt or Megabus is already at exit 9/10 on the NJ turnpike...then you still have the NJT portion of the trip which is another long haul...

I would stick to the buses if commuting from CC to NYC - BOLT, MEGA, Chinatown and some Greyhounds all run express service between Philly and NYC anywhere from 90mins on good day and light traffic to 2 2/1 on just horrible days or accendents on the turnpike...overwhelming i have found it to take 90mins-2hr every time i've done the trip.

Now if you're living somewhere in Bucks or the Far NE Philly...Then SEPTA to NJT all the way...because aleast your going in a straight line then and you dont need to make a majorty of the Philly stops on the R7....Going to CC to catch a bus will feel like going in an unnecessarry circle, by the time you get to CC the R7 will have to you in trenton, hell you may even be further up NJ on NJT by that time.
