Hello - I am considering taking a new job in Voorhees, NJ. I am curious to hear how feasible/ how long a commute would be from the Mainline or Conshohocken to Voorhees. Any info is much appreciated!

Not one I would want to make on a regular basis. I would consider similar communities on the Jersey side of the River instead--namely Moorestown, Collingswood, and the Haddons.

I agree. If you have a job over in Jersey and you are not already living anywhere pick an area closer to it..

Morning commute feedback: The commute on route 476 south ("the blue route") starting just north of 76 and continuing to exit 3, Media/Swarthmore is slow and difficult in the mornings. (Things change at exit 3 because there are no lane drops south of there.) If you can get on the blue route at exit 3 the commute into New Jersey taking 95 north then going over the Walt Whitman to 295 is easy. Traffic moves 70+ mph. (30-35 minutes from Media to Moorestown is the norm.) If you want to go over the Commodore Barry at the same time it's harder because 95 south moves more slowly than 95 north, particularly the ramp onto 95 from 476.

Afternoon commute feedback: 295 south in NJ is frequently a parking lot, though things usually clear up by Voorhees. I've found the most consistent way to get back to the 476 area during the afternoon rush is to take the NJ turnpike & go over the Commodore Barry bridge. If you have to get on 95 north at this point it will be slow, but you won't be on it long to get to 476 north, which is pretty clear northbound. (If you're going to the Media area you can take back roads off the Commodore Barry to avoid most of the 95/476 traffic.)

If 295S over the Walt Whitman isn't a problem during your afternoon commute, you'll usually hit a slowdown on 95S south of the airport caused by the volume of people heading to Delaware. This makes the 95S-to-476N exit slow, but once you pass that merge onto the blue route north of exit 1 it's usually a smooth ride.

I would avoid that commute if you can help it. Depending where in Voorhees, that's a traffic jam in itself.

You would absolutely do better living in NJ than in the Philly burbs with your scenario. Also, do not live in the Philly city limits or you will be stuck with Philly wage tax which is awful. Look into the inner ring suburbs that are 5-15 mins outside of Philly: Audoban, Collingswood, Haddon Twp or Haddonfield.
