Having them play games in Camden would be different though.

I know the Sixers agreement with Comcast at the Wells Fargo Center is near done unless they re-up. Comcast said they would upgrade the WFC this off season. So who knows what will happen.

Imagine if they built an arena were the river sharks stadium is now.
Who would sponsor it I wonder? Any ideas?

Agree, but adding 1200 people, plus whatever Aramark is bringing, to that end of Market St is huge. Hopefully it accelerates whatever Brandywine has planned at 2100 Market. I think PMC now owns almost the whole block at 2300 Market too; I wouldn't be surprised to hear residential plans from them at some point.

Someone mentioned this move months ago. So, it looks like it will happen.

Are you aware that your last statement would a kind of "everything old could be new again? Once upon a time WCAU radio was the flagship station of CBS. WCAU built the building at 1622 Chestnut. Bill Paley, who founded CBS, went to Penn.

KYW moved to Philadelphia from Chicago in 1934 and moved into its brand new state-of-the-art, multi-floor, facility at 1619
Walnut in 1938.

I 90% agree with you, however I think it would be generally good for the region if more/most professional jobs relocated to center city. I think it would encourage more regional investment in SEPTA and lead to a greater regional focus public transportation vs. cars. The current set up is often also difficult for suburban residents. For example if you buy a house in Jenkintown it can be difficult to letter take a (better) job in Media; but both have relatively easy access to center city.

Yes, those are among the last and most embarrassing parking/ vacant lots in Center City. I can't wait for the day when there is a seamless flow of towers all the way to the river.

I also did read that there was a stabbing the other night at that intersection, anyone know the details on that?

Neumann Finance to locate offices in Center City, add more than 200 jobs

Company is taking a few floors in the old PNB building.

Most of us aren't even old enough to remember a time when there where larger Financial Institutions actually HQ'd in Center City.

I currently keep my money with PNC, but have been really considering taking it else where.

As someone who loves Philly, I actually resent the fact that PNC and Wells Fargo were the corporations who ate up our banks.

They provide little to no corporate investment in philly, when they do tons of it in their HQ'd cities. Even though deposits in our area rank close to the same as their home areas.

I actually am actually kind of excited to see Chase open branches in our area. If they are convenient, I would definitely consider them. I have read a lot of articles before about JPMorgan Chase really invests in the communities they serve. I mean, they have already done a ton for our area in Wilmington and they don't even operate a single commercial location yet.

I disagree with this.

The Brookings Institute's study of Philadelphia last year concluded that building out West Market St. was vital to attracting the type of companies you wish to see move here.

Entercom and Aramark moving to 2400 Market and Vanguard opening an innovation center at 2300 Chestnut are just the beginning steps of really fulfilling the 'Innovation District' that will stretches from Center City and connect to University City. With or Without Amazon/Apple.
