I could see consolidation of pet supply retailers with store and online presences in the future. There is tight competition with PetSmart, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus, Pet Supermarket, Petsense, Tractor Supply Company, Southern States, and local pet supply and feed and seed retailers.

I agree. I used Petflow before I switched to Chewy and had all sorts of problems: double billing, wrong shipping times, out of stock items, etc. . . Finally I canceled out of frustration. Then after the sales tax/price increase from Chewy, I canceled them. Now I use my local feed store who gives me buy ten bags, get one free, (with free home delivery also!), and their prices are the same as Tractor Supply.

The nearest pet store (other than the pet section in Walmart) in 45 mins away, so I will still be shopping online 90% of the time for my pet supplies. I shop around, but I have used Chewy many times with no complaints.

Man, I hate to hear this about Chewy. I really DISLIKE PetSmart.

Time to start shopping around for our guys' food and snacks.

Petsmart bought Chewy a full year ago.

We started feeding our dog a prescription diet last fall, and it was not widely available. It's been easy and reliable purchasing from Chewy. No complaints.

Ugh. I really liked Chewy the past few years, the convenience and pricing were better than what I could find locally, and food selection was outstanding. Guess I will have to figure out something else going forward.
I don't know what kind of food you get, but if you live in a rural area, your local feed store can offer numerous high quality pet food alternatives. You can also order online from your local grocery store and use their pickup service. If you still want to order online, many other stores offer free shipping on pet food: Dogfoodirect, Foster and Smith, Petco, etc. . .

Yes, I used them a lot when we had our cat. I really liked them. They had a really nice selection of products, too. I should check them out for our rabbit.

I only just discovered Chewy recently while shopping for a nail trimmer/grinder. Oh well. I'm glad you reminded me of the Drs.

I haven't noticed any prices increases on the things I order, but I guess that's just a matter of time. Wonder how else the company will go downhill now that it's part of Petsmart. Petsmart is an average store at best IMHO.
I also buy some of my pet food from Amazon, and check the price and compair to Chewie and Walmart. Though I've switched to the higher type dry foods, (the dehydrated kind) I find its not costing more, since you use less over the grain filled stuff. Their coats and scratching have also improved a lot.

I'll be watching Chewie's prices. I'll compare. I've switched the fur babies to the dehydrated kibble, and who would have guessed that as you only feed small amounts, much less than the 'regular' kind, it really isn't that much more expensive. I do a comparison between amazon, chewie, and walmart for type, size and price before setting it up as an automatic shipping. I'll set it up for the lowest price among them I guess.

Too bad now that successful companies making money and the owners make some bucks selling to someone bigger and its hardly noticed until its done.
