I am planning to move to York, PA by myself. But the internet is filled with safety concerns! What are the safer place to live in York as a female with a child? Schools are not of concern cause of home schooling. Do you recommend living in near by area or in York itself? Do you like living in York? Thanks in advance.

I want to rent for the time being. Would be open to buying later. I am ready to spend anywhere from 1500 to 2500 for rent as long the area is safe. Safety is most important for me and my child.

Good lord, where are you coming from and willing to pay $2500 rent? Apartments around York are not that expensive. You'd want to stay out of the York City School District vicinity. I can't be more specific about safety. Look into suburban garden apartments, townhouses and condos, preferably with attached garage.

Thank you so much for the reply! Yeah the rent is quite high and painful where I live! It would be great to pay less for rent! Can you please name some areas? Thanks.

Craig's list has very few apartments/townhouses/houses available for rent now with attached garage. Note that it also gives the school district where the dwellings are located. Many more will open up in the spring. Be aware that Craig's List is known for apartment listing scams.

The link below is the "crime map" for York County. You can reference the map to see if any potential areas for apartments are in high crime areas. Most of the criminal activity is drug related.
