This past weekend my fiance, my sister & her boyfriend & I took a trip to Oil City looking for the Antique Warehouse mall, we weren't quite sure where it was but found one on the corner of Elm & Syracuse, about a block or two away from the police station. We went to the door & the place was completely empty, so as I was calling my father who is from Oil City to ask where exactly it was, I found something else. On that corner there was a light post w/ a plaque on it w/ my great grandma & grandpa's names, then their children's names, & at the top is said Historic Oil City & at the bottom it says Incorporated 1871. I asked my father & his sister, my aunt, if they knew it was there & neither of them did. I was just wondering if anyone knows the history of these, there were many more w/ other names written on them. How did they get them, when were they put on the light posts.

Please if anyone has any information I would really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Thanks, I really appreciate it. It's just weird that my dad or my aunt know nothing about it, & the fact that we went to the wrong antique store & turned around & that was there really intrigues me! Talk about being in the right place at the right time!!

I'm from the Venango County area, and was just home this past weekend. I can help you find the antique mall, but can't help with the plaques as I knew nothing about them. The antique mall is located just as your leaving Oilcity. If your on 157 heading towards the seneca hill, just after you go around the bend past the villa italia, there is a Gahr's Excavating in a old Gas station. That is where you make a left and go back to the antique mall. It I believe is in a old railroad or gas company building back in there. Hope this helps.
