He's referring to about half the land area of the state. Potter, Tioga, Bradford, Susquehanna, Clinton (northwest of US 220), etc.

wanneroo is 100% correct. Do not buy unless you 100% understand everything current and future about the drilling. I am local and have seen it all. 1000's of wells are planned. Not only do you have to research the property you are buying, but all properties surrounding you.

Most people are probably unaware that PA was one of the primary producers of oil, before drillers tapped out the shallow fields and cheap oil was found in Texas. I've seen a number of old photos from 100 years ago with oil derricks all around Mansfield and Wellsboro.
I heard of one well down the street that hit oil on the way down and have heard of others. Also there are some other mentions of some big possibilities for oil that go beyond the Marcellus, which is 10-20 years down the road.
