I am in the works on getting the name and number of one of the best orthopedist, my mom knows of a few people that have talked very highly about this Dr. keeping my fingers crossed that it is nothing more than what you have all told me. I am very lucky she drinks tons of water, wish I was more like her....
My heart just broke for her tonight, she got out of school and said they hurt we got home about half an hour later she was on the floor screaming and in pain.... I hate this for her...
Thanks millions to all of you this is soooo helpful.

My daughter had the same problem. She took Motrin, and Aspirin. It seems like my sons did not have as much pain, or at least did not complain as much.

Please read your own link prior to posting an alarmist message like that...this is copied directly from the above link you posted:
The U.S. Surgeon General, the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that aspirin and combination products containing aspirin not be given to children under 19 years of age during episodes of fever-causing illnesses.

Growing pains are not usually accompanied by fevers. Thus, aspirin is not contraindicated in those types of circumstances.

I am 16 and I also had knee pain. I played softball and the pressure from the cleats on my knee caused the muscles around my knee to become inflamed which became very painful. Earlier in the year I was hit by a line drive which tore a cartilage in my knee. Turns out that prior to my injury my knee was inflamed so it made it worse. They said the that the way that they would fix it was by strengthining the muscles surrounding my knee. I've been going to physical therapy for 6 weeks ( which is probably where she'll end up) and I've never felt better.

So I would take her to a sports medicine/ orthopedic doctor just be sure that there's nothing more serious going on.
