My son is a 4 1/2 boy. He is strong and a happy angel. But I found his posture isn't good while he is standing or walking. He has a little bit forward head and his shoulder isn't in good position( i don't know how to say it)too.

Do I need to consult his doctor? Does he need to see a specialist? Since I used to have this problem, I know it is better to treat it as early as possible.

Thanks for the help.

If he's just "slouchy" that's no big deal. Most boys need to be trained to stick the chest out and hold the chin up. I would get concerned if he had any lateral curve in his spine or if he couldn't straighten up when you ask him to (by the way, keep asking him to stand up straight and he will eventually retrain his muscles to have good posture). Otherwise, that's mom & dad country rather than pediatrician country.

My peds always did a quick spine check at well visits, so it's likely yours has done that as well. If not, then inquire about it.

Is your son's head out of proportion to his body? It might be a top heavy issue more than a posture issue.
