What if you rarely need a paid sitter but now you do and the sitter you 'hired' tells you to pay them 'whatever'? What is the going rate for a sitter watching a 9 year old, a five year old, and a one year old from early evening to around 2am?
Also depends on what they were expected to do during the time. I agree that $5-10/hr is typical. When deciding whether it's closer to 5 or closer to 10, I would take into consideration what additional responsibilities were expected or done while you were gone. I think infants/young children needing diaper changes tip the scales toward the higher end as does more than 1 child, dinner prep/cleanup, hours that extend past midnight.....Also, if you know you have children with a history of being "challenging".....
I only have one child and we never use anyone younger than a senior in high school, normally get college students. The going rate around here is $8.00-$10.00 per hour. This depends on how many kids and if you want to be at the top of their list when you call!
Alot more than 5 dollars an hour for 3 children!
Chances are your kids will be so excited to have a sitter that they won't behave perfectly, now times that by 3..
I'd say pay a flat rate of 75-80 dollars. May sound like a lot, but its for about 8 hours right?
If you have them bathed, fed, and possibly even in jammies (at least the youngest) by the time she arrives, you could probably get away with $40. If you expect her to do the bathing and the cooking, expect to pay more.
