Just curious as I've read a stuff that says the 2nd child won't talk as fast as the first born, bc the first born sometimes does the talking for them. I've even encountered some 2 year olds that were hardly talking at all, and they had older siblings.

My second child talked much later than #1, in fact, we had his hearing tested because he was over 2 and still pretty much unintelligible. I don't know if his older brother had anything to do with it, they were almost 5 years apart and #1 was already in school and activities for a large part of the day.

#2 caught up by 2.5, and #3 spoke early.

This was true for my kids. And we often have to remind big sister to be quiet for a moment so that her younger brother can finish his sentence

Only one kid so far, but my mom says that in our family it was the opposite. I started talking at the same time as my little sister, 14 months younger than me.

First was earlier then second. But second was later with pronunciation. I think that is because he was her person interpreter.

OMG my third kid was an early talker! He hasn't shut up since!!

(First two were twins. One certainly was more dominant and tended to want to talk for the both of them.)

My 1st was a late talker. 2nd and 3rd were early talkers.

My 2nd was the early talker and she is still a talker to this day. My son was the 1st and he's still quiet and doesn't say much.
