Reporter struggles in attempt to protect family from unsafe products
There’s a package of Hanes boys’ cotton socks on my desk that I ordered online a few weeks ago, but I refuse to give them to my 5-year-old son even though they’d fit him perfectly.
China probably has the most human rights abuses of any other country in the world....
If the Chinese government, with forced abortions, sterlization and even infanticide, to comply w/their one-chid per family policy (to name just one human rights abuse), then manufacturing unsafe toys really didn't surprise me, I guess.
Not to mention, I never even thought to read where Webkinz were made. My daughter has 10 of those little animals. Thank goodness that the activity is done online and not actually handling the little furry animal regularly.
Everything seems to be made in China. Not just toys. The apple juice I used to give my kids was produced in China. Now I have to read labels more carefully. I started doing this long before the lead controversy btw.
