What would you consider the best age to have a baby?

My boyfriend really wants a kid, while I am unsure if I still want kids, I have been thinking about it. But I want to do it right. I'm 19 and in college. I want to be a dentist, so I'm looking at 8+ years of schooling. By the time I get out of dental school, get established and pay off my loans I'll be in my mid thirties. Would it be better to have a child while getting my bachelors, so that while I'm in dental school they'd be a toddler and my boyfriend would be supporting us, or should I wait to my mid or possibly late thirties to have my first child?

The second option makes the most sense financially, while the first option makes the most sense biologically.

You are young. You have plenty of time. There is no perfect time, but I think while you are in undergrad would be too soon.

19 is too young. I don't think I would wait until your late 30's because that is pushing it (although I had my youngest son at almost 40). I think between 30-35 is nice. It would give you time to finish your schooling and start your career.

When you can afford children and when you want to have them is the right time. Having a child now would make it far less likely that you will achieve your career goals so it's up to you how serious you actually are about them.

For the sake of your future children, please wait until you are 1) sure you want kids.

Physically - now or last year.

Financially - when you are 68.

Emotionally - that will depend entirely on you everyone is different.

If you wait until the "best time" you are not going to have kids. However there is nothing wrong with that either. Many people take that path. By the time you can afford it, you will be too old to handle it physically. If/when you are ready to commit all of your life focus on them and away from yourself - that is the best time. While you are still in college is usually not that time. Are you prepared to slow down your college progress? take a few years off if necessary? Scrap your career if necessary?

Wait.

Those doubts you're having are your conscience telling you that you aren't ready. LISTEN TO IT.

There is no perfect time, and we are not as able to plan pregnancy as we think. Stuff happens.

But I would not let him pressure me.

Wait until you are finished with school. I think early 30s is the best time to have children. The fact that you are even asking the question sounds like you are looking for an excuse to stop your education. No one who really has goals would even continue to date someone who would try to sabotage them like this.

Then don't.

Plus, you are just 19. Chances are you will have another boyfriend (or two) before you are ready to settle down.

After school, for sure. And never do anything while a boyfriend is supporting you. I think early 30's is a great time to have a child. But definitely get yourself settled and school out of the way before starting a family.
