I know I am in the minority on this, but I only let my kids watching the singing part. We FF through the rest.

I agree with what the author wrote. At the same time....

What happened to letting kids be innocent? Why does a 6 year old need to have "the gay talk"?

Well, my children had the talk long before six because their uncle is gay. It's not like we could keep it secret. It was out there in the open from their earliest days.

I didn't plan it. I don't even remember what we were watching (it wasn't Glee). Sometimes kids see stuff and you just roll with it as best you can. It's not like I decided it was time to teach the young padawan about gay people, picked out a show with men kissing, and provoked the issue. It could have been a couple of guys in a restaurant instead ... life happens.

We've also had the "Mom, what are those squirrels DOING?" talk.

That does make it a unique situation.

One of the many benefits of having gay relatives: no awkward gay talk following Glee Klaine scene.

Not that unique, really.

And FTR, the gay characters are NOT why I think glee is too mature for a 6 year old -- it's the explicit sex talk, hetero or homosexual, that I think is too mature. I don't care if my son, 5, sees two men kissing at all. At this point, he wants to marry and man when he grows up, anyway, lol.

Yeah, me too. They watch My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and Toddlers and Tiaras instead. Well, one does, anyway. Her brother is addicted to Adventure Time.

I don't think we've ever had "that talk". We just have a bunch of gay neighbors. It seemed more efficient.

No, I don't think it's necessarily appropriate for anyone under 14 to watch this...
