Hi ladies,

Sooo I was a bad girl and put off the dentist. Now I have to have a root canal. . I think the worst part is over. She stuck all the little things in and wiggled it around. Then she put on a temp filling. I have to go back and get a permanent filling next week once the antibiotics have had a chance to work. I can already feel it getting sore.

Anyone here had a root canal? My mom had 3!

Poor daughter dear. Yes, I've had, I think, 3 root canals. Terrible teeth. As long as they shoot you full of pain killers they really aren't that bad, IMO.

I remember seeing Mr. Limpet MM. It was, believe it or not, a really big deal when it came out. I think because it mixed cartoon and live action. Still unusual back then.

Yuk ohio!

I have crap teeth too, had many root canals. It does beat having a crown without a root canal, and having to destroy the crown down the line to do a root canal though

I've never had a root canal, Ohio.

My dentist threatened that I needed a root canal once.

While waiting for an appointment with the proper specialist, I asked my family doctor prescribe me an antibiotic for the infection.

Since the antibiotic made the pain go away, I never followed through with the root canal.

That was 7 years ago. I've never had a problem with it since.

Great story Dew! Back in the 60's it was usual for concerts to have several well-known acts on the bill unlike now when you pay a fortune to see just one headline act, and perhaps one warm up act. I remember (I think it was 1964) going to a concert in UK where Brenda Lee was top of the bill, but also playing were Jerry and the Pacemakers, The Searchers, Billy J Kramer and ... The Beatles! I paid 50 cents for the ticket.

I'm still waiting to hear your Everly Brothers story!

I have had at least 7 root canals. I think I pay my dentist's mortgage. British teeth. Sigh.

I'm afraid of when I go to the dentist. My mom never took us unless something was wrong. Seriously, I remember visiting the dentist three times. One was when my grandma took me to get me a temporary filling because a permanent was too expensive, and we were way out of my insurance coverage area. The second was when I got home, and my mom took me to get that turned into a permanent filling. The third was when I was a freshman in high school and needed a tooth pulled. I had to take the High School Exit Exam the next day. Boy, was that fun.

When I get insurance again I'll force myself to go, but boy am I afraid of what will be found wrong.

I LOVED Gerry and the Pacemakers. (Beatle love goes without saying.)

OK short version of my Everly Bros story. Again with my dad. They were playing at Knott's Berry Farm (maybe a year before the bust up?) and I wanted to go. I was in high school and none of my friends shared my passion. So my dad said he'd go with me.

We got in early because my brother worked there, blah, blah, blah. Anyway. My dad and I were sitting there in this empty theater and there were two or three guys slumped in the seats. And my dad is talking to me about seeing Ike Everly (their dad for those of your reading along) years before in some ****** tonk.

One of the guys looks at my dad and said, "You saw Ike?" "Yes." (My dad used to haunt juke joints.) The guy says, "Would you like to meet Phil and Don?" I'm wetting my pants at this point.

Long story short, the guys slumped in the seats were their back-up band. Soo.. after the show an usher comes and takes us back stage and there they are! As per usual, my dad starts talking to them like he's known them since they were little and one thing leads to another and it turned out my dad had seen them when they were just kids playing gigs with their parents in Chicago. They talked for an hour.

(Things like this happened all the time with my dad.)

So that's the night my dream came true and I REALLY fell in love with Phil. But no kiss! I wasn't even noticed. He was too busy talking with my dad, lol. But I got autographs. Did I have a camera that night? Noooo.

There's a Part II but I'm going to make you wait, lol.

Definitely force yourself and do everything needed to get things in order. It might be too late, might not. My mother didn't have good dental care as a child. She vowed that she would provide us with good care. We went twice a year for cleanings religiously. I thank her almost everyday that I don't have the dental problems of my friends and husband, all of whom didn't get proper dental care as children. Hubby started paying to have regularly cleanings and proper dental care himself when he was in his early 20s, even when he didn't have insurance. It stalled the decline but he had to get partial dentures in his mid-50s, which is still early but not as early as it would have been. Don't wait for insurance. Shop around for prices on cleanings.

Right now we definitely can't pay out of pocket since I just got back to work. However, once we do have some money I'll have to go. What about those permanent teeth implants? I'm not about to knock my teeth out to get them. They sound very painful to get put in and quite expensive. However, if I needed new teeth before my 50's, I really wouldn't want dentures. Do those have bad side effects or something? Who knows, maybe by the time I'm that age there will be something better than either one.
