I don't think people understand the implications of PTSD. The debilitation. I grew up in the midst of a civil war, and saw and heard awful things in my childhood. I would not classifiy myself as having PTSD at all, but a loud bang will not only have me on the floor ASAP, but I have a real visceral reaction that takes some time to pass, palpitations, nausea, etc. I can only imagine how much worse if is for people such as your husbands pass and dew. To this day I can't stand balloons because of the popping. My family, especially my kids are very protective about it, it's very sweet.

Shameless plug: My brother has a good friend who was in Tower 2 of the WTC on 9/11. His name is Mike Hingson and he's blind. He's written a book called "Thunder Dog". It's the story of how his service dog, Roselle, led him down out of the tower, through the collapse of the buildings, and safely home to New Jersey that horrendous day. It's coming out in August.

Great story. Mike is quite a guy. He's been on Larry King and was in the Rose Parade with Roselle. His story has been in several 9/11 books so it will be interesting to read an in-depth account. (Mike also does a lot of work with handicapped rights and guide dog accessability issues.)

I can completely understand how it would affect you Zimbo. I'm enormously happy it's more talked about now and people understand it's very real.

Good morning!

Does anyone ever buy Living Social deals or Groupons? I'm quite excited that I've pretty much paid for our anniversary weekend next month getting deals. $132 worth of deals for $50! And we are using Marriott points to stay downtown - so free!

And we are going to places we haven't been to before.

Hey jk - I haven't done that but one of my coworkers does that frequently. I don't know if it's groupons or what exactly but her family uses that stuff all the time. She's gotten spa treatments, dinners, all kinds of stuff. I need to look into that......

Wrist feels better but think I'm going to rest it today just the same...or at least most of today...doing other chores instead. Will resume the painting tomorrow....

mm --- I can't say I'm bright shiney yet. I'm still in the pre-caffeine sleep fog. Working on it though.

jk -- $50! That's a great weekend deal!

dew --- We'll see if you win that bet. I'm almost done, but I have a hellish day ahead. After I shower and dress for the day, I have to help "the kid' with something until I leave at 1:30 for my class. When I get home from my class at 3:45, I have to take my son to a dentist appointment at 4:00. I'll have about 6 or 7 hours this evening to finish my taxes. The odds are high. I'm a risky bet but a last minute comeback is a possibility. Then again, it will be a miracle because I usually file my taxes in October. My goal is today though. It's an interesting bet you've got there. Could go either way. LOL

I hereby designate "the kid" as either "Max" (first name to pop into my head) or TK.....

How about Kid Max? Makes him sound like a middle-weight boxer.

Mad Max? Hmm.. Implications of going postal.
