I know it would never work as there is too much emotion tied to December 25 (but we all know Jesus wasn't born on that day) but it sure would be nice to move Christmas into the middle or end of January.
In most of the U.S. the lights, greenery, etc. look so much better and more needed when it is most dreary outside. It's more satisfying drinking hot chocolate, sipping on warm cider and having festivities inside when it is drab outside.
And the commercial end of it drowns out Thanksgiving. Its one of our most important holidays but it gets bulldozed over in many ways by the Yuletide spirit.
So, it is highly unlikely that we'd ever be able to move Christmas further into winter, but maybe we could push up Thanksgiving a week or two? The Canadians seem to be just fine with Thanksgiving in October....
what does this have to do with NC or the Triangle? Isn't this discussion better suited for another forum?
It is, so I'm moving this to a non-local forum.
