i remember in school,,,when there were some national tragedies,,,the principal would go on the p.a. system,, and say, lets take a minute for the victims,,, and bow our heads in silence say a prayer for the families,,, or,,he would quote a line from the bible,
today, the priciple would be fired,,,for quoting a line out of the bible,,,,or offering a heart-felt prayer,,
Yes, it is very sad that the school where I'm employed didn't mention it at all and I haven't heard any of the students talk about it. I began talking about it today to one of the teachers and she said, "What shooting?"
Every day when we say the Pledge to the American Flag (and the Texas flag), the assistant principal then allows a moment of silence. I wish he would have said, "Remember the victims at VA Tech who lost their lives." No mention whatsoever these past few days. That is very sad indeed.
God bless these innocent lives and the families who are devastated by the loss of their loved ones. Even though much of the country doesn't think beyond their own little world, many of us do.
I felt very affected by this VA Tech shootings. I think I felt even worse because when I would mentioned it today, just in passing even on transit, people just snubbed me, which is not uncommon in Portland, but the gray zombie like vibe some people here can give off, it was just the wrong day to show that local coldness. Some did mention it but it was not a hot topic around town, but the train driver did make an announcement on the train intercom, we should remember the victims today, and I will remember that, but I heard no one comment on his nice comment.
People are very different nowadays than they once were. I so agree with you as you can tell by my previous post. Being snubbed is very common in Texas as well. I guess it's just the times in which we're living.
God bless the train driver who remembered the victims. People are zombie-like when it comes to things in life that matter. How I relate to your post.
