That would have to be right now -- reading Today in History and seeing that in 1820 tomatoes were deemed nonpoisonous -- wow, I didn't know they were ever considered poisonous!
Tomatoes are a plant in the Nightshade family some of which are very poisonous and everyone assumed tomatoes would be too. Read the first paragraph or two in the first link. You may be surprised at the list.

In Sarasota by the bay, there is a statue of the famous World War II scene of the sailor and the nurse kissing (at the end of the war) that a lot of people like to go see.
