Ok, I vaguely recall we had a similar thread a while back, but here is my pet peeve.
When I see a new thread and I look at the poster and it is their first post, I tend to ignore it. Why? It seems to me this person is a taker, not a giver. They have not made any contributions to existing threads, offered their advise, thoughts and viewpoints. They are basically walking into the room and climbing right up onto the soapbox. It's all me, me, me.
Now, I know there are others on CD that are like ghosts. YOU KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE!! All they do is read and never post anything. Okay ghosts, time to show yourselves, introduce yourselves and start participating!

Eh, no big deal. Just different styles and approaches. Who wants a bunch of Stepford posters anyway? Live and let post!
What's the big deal. There is no written rule. I am sure the owners of the website welcomes all that create thredas. From a Serach Engine perspective, each time new content is added the Serach spiders visit the website which sends traffic to the site. If I owned a forum, creating new threads and new content would be the ideal situation. This increases rankings as well, that's what anyone that owns a website wants, high rankings.
I've been a very longtime reader of these forums (this one, the parenting one, and the San Antonio one) and have never really felt a need to "jump in" and post...but no better way to do that than by responding to a "Hey! Stop hiding!" thread!

Welcome!! Good idea, I should have called it "Hey! Stop hiding!"
(Although I do respect your right to hide if you want to.)

WOW........that was cool. Whenever I think about life from a macro perspective, the video sums it up nicely. All I want to do is have peace and enjoy it.
Thanks for posting.
