I guess this is the right place for this topic. I am wondering who all here has alot of memories about the 1980s and if so, what are they? I guess this really only could apply to people born before 1989.
I was ages 3 through 13 in the 1980s. (Being 3 at the start of 1980 and 13 at the end of 1989).
I personally remember - of course the big hair, side pony tails, parachute pants, the really big start of aerodynamic styled cars, the great music (that I still like better than todays music) - like "Take on me" 1985, Caribbean Queen" 1985, "Private Eyes" 1984, "Everybody wants to rule the world" 1985, "Smooth Operator" 1985, "Dancing in the Dark" 1985, "Circle in the Sand" 1988, "Forever Young" 1988, "Dont wanna Lose You" 1989, "Shout" 1985), etc and the 80s country music, Cabbage patch kids, Garbage Pail kids trading cards - that came with a little piece of gum, Smurfs, GI Joes, Matchbox and Hot wheels cars, Light Brights, Glow worms, Strawberry Shortcake, me falling off the the stage in a play I was in at school in 1986, hitting my head and having 4 stitches in 1988 (the only stitches I ever had to have), our car accident in 1984, not wanting to go to my 2nd grade class because of a mean teacher that was mean to the students (around 1982?), pulled hair, pinched, etc, my CALCULATOR WRIST WATCH (that my best friend accidentally broke with a ruler in 1987, gummy shoes, high top shoes with tight bottomed blue jeans, huge ear rings, mohawks, bleached jeans, ty-dye shirts, those multi-colored wrist bands, multi-color beads on safety pins, field trips to a local Pizza hut (now gone and rebuilt), to a farm, to caverns, etc. President Reagan getting elected in 1985 (I do not remember the 81' election). I also vividly remember the "Challenger shuttle" explosion in 1986 - that was sad. I was in 4th grade and remember it all over the news. Learning there was no Santa Claus for me in Christmas of 1987. I remember my Atari game system my parents bought me in 1981! Games like Night Driver, Bezerk, Pac-Man, ET, Riddle of the Spinx. Then when it came out, my parents bought me a Nintendo! I think it originally came out around 1983, but it was 1985 before I finally got one. They were rather costly. It was superior to the Atari. I remember the original Mario Brothers and games like Zelda, etc. I think Super Mario 2 came out in 1987 or so? I still have my original Atari and Nintendo!
Words like - totally, radical, bodacious, gag me with a spoon, gnarly, etc. Thats endless.
I am sure I can think of more, but cant now.
Anyone else have vivid memories?

I know, it is funny. Its like they made a comeback. I remember my uncles gave me Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars that they had back in the 60s and 70s! I still have all of them, as well as all of the ones that I had from the late 70s and 80s.

The big hair bands were great. I think the Cleveland Browns might have been good in the 80s!
31 through 41. Got married. Started grad school. Bought a house. Had a baby. Had another baby. DH got laid off. Sold house. Moved 2000 miles away. Moved back. Bought another house. Don't remember any of the fads; I wonder why not.
Oh yeah - I forgot about that! I had those! Also the slinky! Nintendo, Atari too!
I discovered those after the 80's when I was older. lol Im only 22, so itd be odd if I remembered alot. I DO remember watching Gumby and getting in trouble for ruining my other cousin's Gumby doll...

Oh yeah, I forgot about Gumby too! I have a Gumby pin here somewhere dated 1985.
I also forgot to mention Care Bears and Berenstein Bears. Very popular in the 80s and one show my cousin watched constantly - My Little Pony...
I was born in 80. I remember She-Ra, He-Man, Fraggle Rock, Lite Brights, Rainbow Brite, Glow Worms, Metallica, Bon Jovi, we had a Intellivision, big hair, big shirts over leggings, glitter makeup, Cabbage Patch dolls, layered socks, side ponytails, ponytails on the top of the head, Care Bears, Smurfs, My Little Pony, big earrings, I remember teaching myself how to write cursive from a wall chart my parents got me in 87.
I remember the house I lived in from ages 4-8. It had a blackberry tree in the front yard, a peach, pear, apple and cherry tree in the back yard, blueberry vines, strawberry plants, and the railroad tracks ran right behind the fence. I remember standing on the balconey and watching the trains go by. I remember climbing over the fence to play on the RR tracks. I remember falling off my neighbors 10-speed bike (before I learned how to ride one) and cutting my knee to the bone. I remember my step father pouring hydrogen peroxide over it, putting on a band-aid and saying I was fine (even though I kept bleeding through the bandage all day.) I rmember playing war with sticks and rocks, playing tag and a kid getting shoved into a fence and a rusty nail going into her leg.
I remember roller skating parties and seeing the birthday girl fall and chip her front teeth. I remember Girl Scouts, ballet, gymanstic and tap dance lessons that my mother made me take, because I looked "soooo cute" in the outfits.
