I don't miss that whole era of the born-again Christian movements and cults which predominated during that period.
There were some cults, but the born again Christian movement was more prevalent in the 1980's.

Wow...long time since this thread was updated. Still missing the 70's? One thing I do miss lately is the pretty awesome tv shows! Use to love Welcome Back Kotter, and the original Sat. Night Live players. I remember watching Monty Python & the flying circus late at night. And the Late night Concert shows! Anyone have a few fav. tv shows from the 70's?

I miss the music; the TV(back when curse words were still forbidden); people enjoying the simple pleasures in life (instead of everybody being attached to an electronic device); the vehicles (you could actually tell the difference between them then-now they all look alike);the slower pace; having to get all dressed up to go to a disco/club-unlike now-people go in looking like slobs; the hairstyles; some of the fashions; the food (back before everybody was all up-in-arms about HFCS/fat/carbs and just ate and enjoyed every bite); people back then didn't seem as cynical and rude as they are now; kids were happy getting real toys for Xmas and didn't expect their parents to drop hundreds of dollars on the latest electronic gadget; watching all the Christmas specials; watching variety shows like Donny and Marie, the Brady Bunch, Sonny and Cher; roller skating every weekend; the drive-in(we still have one here in Vineland, NJ); when TV commercials were actually entertaining instead of stupid; the economy (better than it is now);and the #1 reason I miss the 70's: my folks were still alive and healthy.
Your last line resonates. I started the '70s with both parents and all four grandparents. Now, just my dad is living.

I came of age in the '70s and miss a lot of things from that time. There's nothing like youth. I started driving in the '70s, started drinking then and learned a bunch of other things.

I was not a disco fan, but the '70s had a lot of other good music, especially in the early '70s. As for TV, I had a major crush on Valerie Harper and loved Charlie's Angels

The 70s were a bit late for me. I was too busy to pay much attention to the era. I finished the service in '72 and then it was time to hit the books and try to build a future with a new wife and young daughter. I spent most of the 1970s in school. It was fun but I don't relish doing it again.
