Wow that brings back memories, I must have been living in NY at the time, Warshing Powder....I'll have to ask my parents where I heard that.

Will have to watch it around here. Glad that you cannot hear me speak. In the midwest, 'warsh' is constantly used. It is uncommon around here to hear 'w a s h' used. I know, I know, there is no 'r' in there. Have no idea where this came from. Just a regional dialect, I imagine.

I am also very annoyed at 'you know', 'you know what I mean', 'like' used constantly, and uhh every fourth or fifth word.

I am not annoyed at dialect having lived in so many places although I do have to pay close attention to certain ones in the south to get most of what they are saying. I remember towards the end of their popular use really hating hearing people say:

Groovy
Far Out
Heavy
Thats A Drag
Woa
Peace

I used to catch myself saying hey man...lol.... by 1980 it wasn't cool in south Fla anymore.

NWV....I understand exactly how you feel!!!! Being from Texas has the same results!!! I too know that there is no "r" in wash, but that's how it comes out when I am speaking. My DH teases me relentlessly about that, and I even stop speaking in the middle of a sentence to say that word properly. The same thing happens with rinse....when I say it, it sounds like wrench. I believe those things have more to do with accent than annoying words.

Denise....Just like NMS, I meant the "whatevh" coming out of a person with and attitude problem, usually someone in the teenage-young adult age group.
