Good morning everyone and Merry Christmas! PAhippo, welcome back!

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2022? (Thanks to Jezer for the question.)
So many positive things..., the best is that I recovered from an illness using a particular way if eating.
Will you be enjoying a special meal today? What will you be having?
I'll make a meat roulade, using bison. Never did this recipe. Plus different veggies with herbs and sesame seeds. All baked. And crepes with plum marmelade (no sugar added).
For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
For all of it.
What are your top three positive qualities?
Kindness, loyalty and creativity.
Do you ever look up old friends or classmates online? Have you ever reconnected with someone that way?
Yes and yes.
If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?
It's personal.
Have you ever gotten really lost? What happened?
No.

Thanks Bay.

Season Greetings...

Today’s Questions:
What was the best thing that happened to you in 2022? (Thanks to Jezer for the question.) Finally went on an International trip after staying home with the pandemic for the last two years!

Will you be enjoying a special meal today? What will you be having? Roasted Turkey breast, Lithuanian sausage, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, sauerkraut, Lithuanian rye bread.

For what in your life do you feel most grateful? Having a home, family and being debt free.

What are your top three positive qualities? Sense of humor, creative, always seeing there is a light at the end of the tunnel (okay--sometimes it is a long tunnel!)

Do you ever look up old friends or classmates online? Have you ever reconnected with someone that way? No interest

If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?

Have you ever gotten really lost? What happened? I was lost for about 30 minutes in Central Park (NYC). Having a map was not helpful. I just kept walking and hoping I would finally go the right way. I finally saw tall buildings! So I walked towards them. I was really far off and had to walk a very long way to Times Square. I had to laugh at myself!

Today in History:
336 – First documentary sign of Christmas celebration in Rome. Wow, that was a long time ago!

1809 – Dr. Ephraim McDowell performs the first ovariotomy, removing a 22-pound tumor.

1914 – A series of unofficial truces occur across the Western Front to celebrate Christmas.

1991 – Mikhail Gorbachev resigns as President of the Soviet Union (the union itself is dissolved the next day). Ukraine's referendum is finalized and Ukraine officially leaves the Soviet Union.

Thanks for the History lesson Bay!

Quote of the Day:

Greetings Bay!

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2022? (Thanks to Jezer for the question.)

Hmm- Seeing Miss J, once here, and once at her place was lovely. Mrs J and I had a wonderful week on the French Mediterranean island of Corsica.

Will you be enjoying a special meal today? What will you be having?

We have had our yummy Christmas lunch here at home. Turkey, sausages covered in bacon, stuffing, cauliflower done in butter and sprinkled with paprika, brussel sprouts with chesnuts and bacon, balsamic vinegar and sage, parsnips in Parmesan, roast potatoes, gravy, Christmas pudding and clotted cream.

For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

Having, with my wonderful wife, such a lovely, intellegent and hard working daughter. Having enjoyed my working life, and now loving retirement in beautiful SW France.

What are your top three positive qualities?

I don't like blowing my own trumpet, but pushed I try to be kind to others, try to be positive and like to be fun.

Do you ever look up old friends or classmates online? Have you ever reconnected with someone that way?

One or two, but I live far from any of them.

If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?

Try not to get run over.

Have you ever gotten really lost? What happened?

Hmm- I don't think so. How boring.

Many thanks and best wishes Bay.

Today’s Questions:

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2022? (Thanks to Jezer for the question.) In July, I finally found the right medical provider to help me with a chronic neck problem that began in March 2021. He is so caring and skilled, and I am finally getting better after so many months of terrible pain. I call him the miracle worker.

Will you be enjoying a special meal today? Not today. My family's get-together and big meal was last evening. What will you be having? At my sister's house we had lasagna, salad, garlic bread and some other goodies. It was a scrumptious meal shared with 11 loved ones.

For what in your life do you feel most grateful? Loving family and friends; good health

What are your top three positive qualities? Hmm. I would say compassion, empathy and my lifelong involvement in volunteer work.

Do you ever look up old friends or classmates online? I have a couple of times. Have you ever reconnected with someone that way? Nope. Couldn't find who I was looking for.

If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do? Maybe go swimming. I'd feel free as a bird because no one could see me in my bathing suit!

Have you ever gotten really lost? Yes; twice. Once on foot and once in my car. What happened? About 20 years ago, I was on my way to attend a baby shower, and I was given an incorrect address. I drove around and around looking for the home; even stopped at a police station and asked where it was, and the cops said there was no such address. Unfortunately, the invitation did not include a phone number, so I couldn't even call the person's home to ask where the heck she was. I hunted for about an hour and a half and then finally gave up.

The time I got lost on foot, I was with my sister and a friend hiking in a wooded county park on a very hot summer day. Vandals had destroyed the trail markers and we got hopelessly lost for a couple of hours. We finally ended up walking out from the trees onto a roadway and we recognized where we were. A passing driver took pity on us and drove us back to the park area where the rest of our group was picnicking. We were so embarrassed!

Thanks for the Sunday questions, Bay!

Today’s Questions:
What was the best thing that happened to you in 2022? (Thanks to Jezer for the question.)
Finding a contractor who did some long-delayed and much-needed repairs and upgrades to our house. I also enjoyed meeting Gella, his friendly and affectionate chocolate lab mix who accompanied him every day.
Will you be enjoying a special meal today? What will you be having?
I served roast turkey breast wrapped in bacon, cornbread dressing, gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans and apple pie.
For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
Mr. Bay had medical crisis in September that sent him to the hospital twice, with a month in a rehab facility, but he's home and doing much better now.
What are your top three positive qualities?
Kindness, sense of humor, resilience.
Do you ever look up old friends or classmates online? Have you ever reconnected with someone that way?
Yes, I'm snoopy and have looked up many old friends and classmates online. I've found a few, and whether or not I initiated contract, it's been good to know that they're still around and to see photos of what they look like today.
If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?
I like PJSaturn's answer. Also, I would enjoy going to as many concerts as I like without having to buy a ticket or wandering in and out of random houses just to see how other people live.
Have you ever gotten really lost? What happened?
When I lived in New York City I was supposed to meet a friend who lived near Columbia University, but I took the wrong subway line and ended up on 125th Street, the middle of Harlem. As a young white woman alone in a black neighborhood, I was pretty nervous. But when I asked for directions everyone I talked to was kind and helpful. One man even walked me to the bus stop and told me where to get off.

Thanks to everyone for your interesting answers.
