Recipe of the Day: HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER CUPS RECIPE from Taste of Home
Sounds good.
Today’s Questions:
What is your favorite candy? Milk chocolate, preferably from Belgium.
Have you ever made a scrapbook? Yes, I have one scrapbook and boxes full of loose items that I'm too lazy to buy more scrapbooks for.
What is the last book you read? Or something else? I just finished Wesley the Owl by Stacey O'Brien, a very touching love story about a woman and her pet barn owl.
What is a book you read this year that you loved? I really enjoyed Not Pretty Enough: The Unlikely Triumph of Helen Gurley Brown by Gerri Hirshey.
What is the last baked food you ate? Sourdough bread.
Do you think you have common sense? Yes, I think I'm pretty grounded.
Extra Credit Questions:
Would you rather shop online or go to a mall? Online because the malls never seem to have what I need.
Would you rather wake up in the middle of a desert or wake up in a row boat on an unknown body of water? Oh, good grief. Neither, really. But I think I'd have a better chance of survival in a row boat.
Would you rather hear trains or airplanes near your house? Trains. I always have liked the sound. We already get airplanes because of the proximity to SFO flight paths.
Would you rather climb a tree or jump rope? I think jumping rope would be a little safer, but it would be fun to climb a tree.
Would you rather paint a room yourself or hire someone to do it for you? Hire someone, but only if they'll come later in the day because I don't get up that early.
Would you rather go out to a club or stay home and watch a movie? Movie. I don't like crowds or noise.
Would you rather watch golf or tennis? Tennis, though I'm not a fan of either sport.
Would you rather go in a hot air balloon or parasail? Neither. No way, José. Not gonna happen. You couldn't pay me enough to do either of those things.
Would you rather have common sense or be extremely intelligent? I would like to have both, but I think common sense is the more practical of the two assets.
Would you rather move to a new city or town every week or never be able to leave the city or town you were born in? Both options sound awful, but I prefer to stay in one place. So it looks like I'm stuck in Glendale, California for the rest of my life.
Bonus Questions:
Where is your phone? It's in my handbag.
Where were you last night? At an Italian restaurant, then a quick stop at the supermarket and then home for the rest of the evening.
Something that you aren't? Right-handed.
What is your mood? I'm feeling a little bit anxious about the upcoming holidays because there's always so much to do, and I never feel as if I'm caught up.
Do you have any fears? I am afraid of becoming frail and demented in my later years and not being able to live alone.
Have you outgrown a childhood fear? What was it? I used to be spooked by television station sign-offs. They don't do this any more, but in the old days TV stations used to go off the air around midnight or 1 am. They'd put up a station ID, play the National Anthem, show a "Seal of Good Practice" slide or something similar, and then SSSsssSSSsssSSSS...dead air. "Snow" or "hash," we used to call it. The screen would turn into little black, gray and white moving pixels. To me it was scary, as if something had died. I always tried to change the station before that happened.
As an adult I worked for a TV station and for a while I was the person who played the National Anthem, put up the ID slide and turned off the transmitter at signoff. Luckily there was no "hash" because the screens in Master Control were not actual TV receivers but only monitors. So when the signal died, the monitors went to black. No "hash."
Even so, I still would get a creepy feeling if I were at home watching TV and failed to change the channel before the transmitter got turned off. Nowadays stations are on the air 24-7, so I don't have this problem any more.
