Well, it started off as freezing rain, so all trees and powerlines are encased in icicles like crystal, then came hours and hours of heavy sleet, then finally heavy snow. I was outside this morning in the past hour taking photos. It's 14F outside, so I didn't stay outside long! A lot of snow fell in Missouri. It's a no-school day in Springfield, so my neighbor's kids across the road are playing! I was hoping others had neat photos to share too. This was an early storm!
Here's a pic of the sun coming up with the ice in the trees gleaming

Another from behind the house of the sun coming up through the iced trees

From inside the garage...a wall of snow greeted me when the door went up.

I wish I had pictures to post! I guess you didn't loose your power? Thanks for sharing these and your house is very pretty, looks like you have a lot land.

Thank you, yes, I'm fortunate as the house lies in the middle of 4.3 acres, so the woods behind are mine as well as what you see in front...lots of privacy . Yeah, I lost power briefly during the ice storm, but just as I was saying "Oh crap"..it came back on again and stayed on. I'm very lucky as I'm with a rural cooperative and if the power goes out here...it's out for a week if it's storm-related. In Springfield itself, still some 20,000 people are without power is what I understand and other cooperatives that serve Ash Grove and Aurora to the west are down, so none of those people have power. The snowplow still hasn't come through and the roads are deep in snow. They're probably going by priority I imagine. I took pictures with a real camera too as the sun came up through the ice-encased trees. That camera has clarity and it looks like millions of diamonds in the sunlight. It's truly spectacular! But I must say...I went to the mailbox and there's even snow inside the mailbox though the flap was completely closed! I left my boots outside..didn't want to bring them into the house.
That storm just happened early this morning. All across the midwest. All kinds of records were broken. I have yet to see a snow plow in my area and it's 1:30 in the afternoon. It doesn't help that I'm parked off of an alley either.
Nice pictures, guys, but I can't say I miss it. Brrrr! I've lived through 2 blizzards, too many snow storms and several ice storms which caused hours long power outages. I have my a/c on this afternoon and that suits me just fine! Stay warm!
