If money were no object and you could build the house of your dreams, what would it look like?
What color(s)/exterior material?

It would be a one level log cabin.

What kind of porch would it have?

One step up length of the front of the house. Deck in back. Both have ramps.

How many bedrooms? 2 is enough

How many bathrooms? 2

Any special kind of shower/tub? Walk in showers in each, no tubs.

How many extra rooms for, say, an office, a studio, etc.?

One extra for an office. More fussy about this room than the others. Want large one that could fit my wood desk with hutch, extra large bookcase, easy chair and a work table. No attic. No basement. No fireplace. No wood stove.

Other interior features? Laundry room. Wide doorways. All electric appliances and heating/cooling. Lower cabinets than what I have now. Microwave has its own space on the counter, not mounted above the stove. Carpeting (need it for my legs).

What about the land? How big is the piece of property your dream house sits on?
What's in your yard?

The back yard is mostly wooded, several bird feeders, a bird bath, a butterfly garden, a statue of St Francis. A dog house. Neighbors at least 3 lots away. A split rail fence in back. No garage but a stand alone overhang for the car would be good. A garden in front. A paved driveway and paved path to front door. A barbecue grill on the deck.

The property is well above sea level but is on flat land. Nearby mountains, good but don't want to live IN the mountains, just be able to see them. Sewers. Within 5 miles of a lake. No further South than I am now because of heat.

Anything else you'd like to have in your house/yard?

A shotgun. A german shepherd, a person/landscaper who takes care of the outside, a maid who comes every other week. A handyman on call. If I can't have them, I don't want a house.

Bonus Question(s):
Do you have:
a map (of anywhere) on the wall?
Not on the wall.
a globe? No
an atlas? A few. For Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan, Maryland/Delaware, Alabama
a compass? In the car
a map in your car? The pertinent atlases come with me on road trips. Right now, West Virginia is in the car. Alabama will go in next month, too.
GPS? Yes but I don't trust it.

Just for Fun:
Have you ever "left your mark" anywhere, such as carved your initials in a tree, written your name in wet cement, or written on a bathroom wall?
No

Just for Fun:
Have you ever "left your mark" anywhere, such as carved your initials in a tree, written your name in wet cement, or written on a bathroom wall?I've yarn bombed many places before. I left beautiful crochet bombs at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, hospitals, random streets, the beach, restaurants, work.... One of my favorite yarn bombings was when my mother was in the hospital and to pass the time I picked up small rocks from around the hospital grounds and crocheted around them in lacy patterns. I then walked around to the different wards and dropped them in with plants, placed them on desks, put them on window sills, even handed a few to children. When I yarn bombed the RnR Hall of Fame, I crocheted a colorful sleeve around one of the railings. I just love adding color and whimsy to the world.

Today's Question(s):
If money were no object and you could build the house of your dreams, what would it look like? I have simple tastes. A small one story house with a low maintenance exterior would be good.

What color(s)/exterior material? Maybe stucco or stacked stone. No wood or logs…too much upkeep.
What kind of porch would it have? I love porches. A covered porch with enough room for 4 chairs.
How many bedrooms? Two
How many bathrooms? Any special kind of shower/tub? Two. A walk in shower with no doors would be nice.
How many extra rooms for, say, an office, a studio, etc.? I don't really need any extra but I'll take an all purpose room for a library/slash office.
Other interior features? Open floor plan. I hate the feel of living in little boxes. A big kitchen pantry
What about the land? How big is the piece of property your dream house sits on? Just enough so I don't ave to deal with neighbors
What's in your yard? A nice sunny spot for a garden, some fruit trees, some shade trees and a water feature would be nice. I like listening to running water.
Anything else you'd like to have in your house/yard? A large garage or workshop for my DH

Bonus Question(s):
Do you have:
a map (of anywhere) on the wall? Not on any walls
a globe? No
an atlas?
a compass?
a map in your car? Several
GPS? I do and have been using it this week. Sometimes it really does work and it's been handy especially in towns my DH are not familiar with.

Just for Fun:
Have you ever "left your mark" anywhere, such as carved your initials in a tree, written your name in wet cement, or written on a bathroom wall?

Just a few. My DH and I have written our names on some studs inside walls of houses.

Have a great day!!

. My house would be a simple cottage type of house, single story, out in the prairie, something easy to maintain, with the white siding and yellow shutters.
And of course in some small southern town.
I have an atlas of the U.S. and a compass in my work truck.
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today's Question(s):
If money were no object and you could build the house of your dreams, what would it look like? A castle or French chateau.
What color(s)/exterior material? stone, something really solid, not like a lot of the cheap looking stuff they build homes with now a days.
What kind of porch would it have? A veranda kind of thing with some great views that you can soak them in while you sit out there enjoying a nice drink and maybe read a nice book on a cool day. I remember Windsor Castle having something like that.
How many bedrooms? Don't know.
How many bathrooms? Any special kind of shower/tub? Walk in shower. I got to use of those at Hilton Tokyo and, it was really nice. I would want multiple bathrooms so, I wouldn't have problem getting to one if nature called.
How many extra rooms for, say, an office, a studio, etc.? A big library, a room with a pool table though I rarely play though my Dad and sister do, a fitness room with various fitness machines.
Other interior features? A fancy dining room with a big table to eat at and share good conversation.
What about the land? How big is the piece of property your dream house sits on? A good bit of land in the country so, I could take nice walks outside.
What's in your yard? A croquet set and a hammock (great to lay out in).
Anything else you'd like to have in your house/yard? A good size garage and well as a riding mower and a snow blower.

Bonus Question(s):
Do you have:
a map (of anywhere) on the wall? Nope
a globe? Nope
an atlas? Nope
a compass? I think I have one on a carabineer I have.
a map in your car? Yes, lots of them though I haven't used them in years.
GPS? Absolutely. I'm on my second one and, it's been priceless a LOT of times, especially when I visit my Dad who lives in Michigan. I don't know my way around there at all. I'd have a really hard time getting around without it.

Just for Fun:
Have you ever "left your mark" anywhere, such as carved your initials in a tree, written your name in wet cement, or written on a bathroom wall? Absolutely NOT! I have seen some interesting examples of it including Roman scrawling on the Temple of Isis in Egypt which I thought interesting. But, I wouldn't do it myself.

Time to have a little fun. So grab a cuppa, and sit for a bit and ponder the following...

Today's Question(s):
If money were no object and you could build the house of your dreams, what would it look like? Tudor style, on a pine-wooded lot. Lots of beautiful hand-tooled woodwork inside and out.
What color(s)/exterior material? Wood and stone.
What kind of porch would it have? A stone front porch, not huge, but a huge wood deck in the rear of the house.
How many bedrooms? Three.
How many bathrooms? Four. Any special kind of shower/tub? Separate tub and shower. Jacuzzi tub big enough for two people and a big shower with glass walls. A window and a skylight in the master bath.
How many extra rooms for, say, an office, a studio, etc.? Two extra rooms; one for office stuff and my treadmill and one for craft projects and music equipment and supplies.
Other interior features? A huge kitchen with a center island with an overhang and bar stools. Copper fixtures, including hanging rack for pots and pans. State of the art appliances and sink fixtures. A specially-designed wine storage facility to keep wines at the right temperatures. Fully equipped with the best pots and pans, knives and other utensils.
What about the land? Pine woods. How big is the piece of property your dream house sits on? A couple of acres at least.
What's in your yard? Natural wood (as in unpainted) furniture; bird baths and feeders.
Anything else you'd like to have in your house/yard? What the heck. Since money is no object, throw in an in-ground pool with a large patio. Big fire pit and stone grilling area.

Bonus Question(s):
Do you have:
a map (of anywhere) on the wall? Yes. I'm in my office at the moment and have a map of the building showing the escape route in case of emergency.
a globe? Nope.
an atlas? Nope. But I have a couple of road atlases at home.
a compass? Nope.
a map in your car? Yep. I have a map of Indiana and one of Michigan in my car.
GPS? Yep; two. One is built into my car's dashboard and the other is a portable GPS that I used in my previous car and still keep in my current car in the center console. Love using a GPS!

Just for Fun:
Have you ever "left your mark" anywhere, such as carved your initials in a tree, written your name in wet cement, or written on a bathroom wall? I once used a felt marker to write my name and the date on a table in a restaurant. The restaurant encouraged customers to do that and provided the markers.

Sounds like the Prodigal Son.

Today is:
Eat a Hoagie Day Yum! That sounds great.
National Kreme Filled Donut Day YUM! That sounds even better!

Quote of the Day:

Today's Question(s):
If money were no object and you could build the house of your dreams, what would it look like?

I've never had a desire for a big showy home. I like modest, well designed homes.

For architectural and design styles, I love mid-century. The interior would be a mixture of vintage and modern.

What color(s)/exterior material?

I don't know yet.

What kind of porch would it have?

Half roof, half pergola.

How many bedrooms?

Two.

How many bathrooms? Any special kind of shower/tub?

Two.

How many extra rooms for, say, an office, a studio, etc.?

One big empty room the size of a school gymnasium connected onto the back, obscured somehow by vegetation to keep with the modest appearance of the home. I want trampolines inside of it and a place to roller skate. Also for when I just feel like running around and don't want to do that outside where everyone can see me.

Other interior features?

Small practical furniture. Nothing big or excessive.

What about the land? How big is the piece of property your dream house sits on?

Not too big, but a place to feel like I'm getting away.

What's in your yard?

Citrus trees, water features.

Anything else you'd like to have in your house/yard?

Bonus Question(s):
Do you have:
a map (of anywhere) on the wall?
a globe? A small one somewhere.
an atlas?
a compass?
a map in your car?
GPS? <---

Just for Fun:
Have you ever "left your mark" anywhere, such as carved your initials in a tree, written your name in wet cement, or written on a bathroom wall?

When I was little I had a "gum collection" on the side of Walmart. I was very proud of it, but always got into trouble for doing it.
