Today’s Question:
Have you ever had ants (or other type of bug) in your home ? When I lived with my parents we would get flying ants every year
If so, did you do something to get rid of them ? Don't think we ever bothered
If a single bug gets into your home, what method do you use to be rid of it (flyswatter or other) ? When bugs get into my house now the cat takes care of them
Do spiders disconcert, alarm, or frighten you ? Not a fan of spiders unless they're really tiny and not in my house
Are there any particular insects that you like or at least find less objectionable ? I like woodlice, used to love poking them to watch them roll up

Extra Credit:
Have you ever accidentally microwaved metal ? Not accidentally but I've microwaved foil crisp packets on purpose a few times - love watching those sparks fly!

Bonus:
Do you have any jewelry (“dog tags” or medical ID bracelet count) with letters or words on it ? No

Just for Fun:
Do you enjoy learning about neologisms (new words or expressions) ? Doesn't interest me really

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neologism

Have you ever coined one yourself (made up a word or phrase) ? None that are repeatable here!

Happy Monday June 15, everybody-and welcome to QOTD.

Today’s Question:
Have you ever had ants (or other type of bug) in your home ? Once in awhile I see a spider or centipede.
If so, did you do something to get rid of them ? Never had a real problem with bugs.
If a single bug gets into your home, what method do you use to be rid of it (flyswatter or other) ? A paper towel and Lysol spray seems to work. Spray first then grab it with the paper towel.
Do spiders disconcert, alarm, or frighten you ? Big ones I don't like.
Are there any particular insects that you like or at least find less objectionable ? Lady bugs, grasshoppers and the praying mantis.. Oh, butterflies too.

Extra Credit:
Have you ever accidentally microwaved metal ? No.

Bonus:
Do you have any jewelry (“dog tags” or medical ID bracelet count) with letters or words on it ? I think I still have dog tags put away somewhere.

Mornin' all!

Happy Monday June 15, everybody-and welcome to QOTD.
Thank you cloven. It's nice to "see" you this morning.

Today’s Question:
Have you ever had ants (or other type of bug) in your home ?
Not usually, but the last few years have brought an influx of Stink Bugs.
If so, did you do something to get rid of them ?
Trap/release. The pets won't go near them!
If a single bug gets into your home, what method do you use to be rid of it (flyswatter or other) ?
Place a clear plastic cup over the bug, slide some stiff, thin cardboard under the cup, throw the bug outside. Everything has its purpose. But not in my house.
Do spiders disconcert, alarm, or frighten you ?
Sometimes they startle me if I reach for something and happen to find one. But they don't frighten me any more. We occasionally get wolf spiders, and I just go get the cup!
Are there any particular insects that you like or at least find less objectionable ?
I think earwigs, centipedes, and Dobson flies are extraordinarily creepy, but I'm not generally bugged by bugs.

Extra Credit:
Have you ever accidentally microwaved metal ?
No. And I know that's a thing, but we had a microwave/toaster oven with a metal grate built-in. Nothing ever happened to it when we used the microwave.

Bonus:
Do you have any jewelry (“dog tags” or medical ID bracelet count) with letters or words on it ?
Hubby and I got matching necklaces as a wedding gift. They have the rune for Joy on them. That's the closest thing I have.

Just for Fun:

I do! I love language!

Have you ever coined one yourself (made up a word or phrase) ?
Probably...though I can't think of anything at this moment.

If so, did you do something to get rid of them ? I use bug spray where they enter.
If a single bug gets into your home, what method do you use to be rid of it (flyswatter or other) ? Flyswatter or if it's close to the door, I'll open it and let it fly out on its own.
Do spiders disconcert, alarm, or frighten you ? Only if they're big and hairy.
Are there any particular insects that you like or at least find less objectionable ? Butterflies, especially Monarch ones.

Extra Credit:
Have you ever accidentally microwaved metal ? Not to my recollection.

Today’s Question:
Have you ever had ants (or other type of bug) in your home ? Yes, and uncles, too.
If so, did you do something to get rid of them ? Told them if they stayed, they'd have to sweep the floors and do the dishes.
If a single bug gets into your home, what method do you use to be rid of it (flyswatter or other) ? If it's a flying insect, yes. Maybe a papertowel. More recently plastic sandwich bag, so can see it and don't risk getting it on your hand. Sometimes a glass and a paperplate. Put glass over bug, slip paperplate underneath, escort outside.
Do spiders disconcert, alarm, or frighten you ? Spiders don't bother me. Unless they're poisonous, they get released outside. I am the spider wrangler.
Are there any particular insects that you like or at least find less objectionable ? Bees - that aren't stinging, dragonflies, lady bugs, to name a few.

Extra Credit:
Have you ever accidentally microwaved metal ?
Yep, once caught an Arby's bag on fire because the silver wrapper is aluminum. Sandwich was unharmed and was still good.

Bonus:
Do you have any jewelry (“dog tags” or medical ID bracelet count) with letters or words on it ? Not into bling.

Just for Fun:
Do you enjoy learning about neologisms (new words or expressions) ? If they seem to have some basis in reason.
Have you ever coined one yourself (made up a word or phrase) ? Yes.

Today’s Question:
Have you ever had ants (or other type of bug) in your home ? Ants, plenty of times. Camel crickets also invade our house and tend to like the bathtub for some reason. There were at least a half dozen of them in there last night before I went to bed. The sides are too slippery for them to get out, so I suppose they stayed there until someone took a shower.
If so, did you do something to get rid of them ? Ants, usually raid. If it's something like a spider or another beneficial insect I'll try to trap it in a bathroom cup and put it outside. Otherwise, the sole of my shoe makes a good bug swatter.
If a single bug gets into your home, what method do you use to be rid of it (flyswatter or other) ? If it's a fly, there is a fly swatter. Unfortunately, it's kept on the porch, so by the time you get it, the fly has moved somewhere else.
Do spiders disconcert, alarm, or frighten you ? Not at all
Are there any particular insects that you like or at least find less objectionable ? Spiders, as I mentioned earlier.

Extra Credit:
Have you ever accidentally microwaved metal ?
No
Bonus:
Do you have any jewelry (“dog tags” or medical ID bracelet count) with letters or words on it ?
No
Just for Fun:
Do you enjoy learning about neologisms (new words or expressions) ?
Depends on what they are
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neologism

Have you ever coined one yourself (made up a word or phrase) ?
I have, but I can't remember any.

Happy Monday June 15, everybody-and welcome to QOTD.

Today’s Question:
Have you ever had ants (or other type of bug) in your home ? All the time.
If so, did you do something to get rid of them ? Spray them if it's ants.
If a single bug gets into your home, what method do you use to be rid of it (flyswatter or other) ? Bottom of shoe.
Do spiders disconcert, alarm, or frighten you ? Not unless they are a Black widow or Brown Recluse and I find them in my bed covers.
Are there any particular insects that you like or at least find less objectionable ? I like dragonflies because they love mosquitoes.

Extra Credit:
Have you ever accidentally microwaved metal ? Yes and, BTW, why do they use metal clamps on the ends of sausage packaging?

Bonus:
Do you have any jewelry (“dog tags” or medical ID bracelet count) with letters or words on it ? I don't wear jewelry except a watch. It has the lettering Fossil on it.

Just for Fun:
Do you enjoy learning about neologisms (new words or expressions) ? It's interesting.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neologism

Have you ever coined one yourself (made up a word or phrase) ? Possibly. Sometimes a new word or phrase will pop into my head when I observe something odd or weird that I feel has never been adequately or concisely described. However, my new word or phrase may or may not be politically correct so I usually keep them to myself.

Wow! It's already the start of a new work week. I hope everybody has a good one.
