Getting my old name back? (drivers license, legal, card)

I was given my fathers last name when I was born but my mother was mad at him one day and changed it when I was 8. I am now 22 and I was wondering what I would have to do to get my old last name back. It's still his on my birth certificate and Social security card.

It depends on whether or not your Mother changed it legally. If she did, you will probably have to go through the court system to change it back. If not, you're good to go since the correct name is on your birth certificate and SS card.

Did your mother go to court and legally change your name? If not take your SS card and birth certificate and get your drivers license changed. Once your drivers license is changed go to your bank and change over your accounts to your new last name. Inform your job of your name change and use your new last name for everything else. If your mother had your last name legally changed you will have to have an attorney change it back for you.
