Its that time of the year again. People start asking which party you are attending. And based on the response your coolness is judged. Especially if you are in college.

Have you ever just sat at home on New year's eve? Maybe with family and friends?

The reason I ask is because every year I see the big parties and scantily clad women in clubs shown on television and I actually find it uncomfortable to be there. Big DJ nights, hitting the town.
I have done it and was self conscious at times. Maybe because of my social anxiety.

I'd rather be in a house party and I actually confess of not doing ANYTHING special one year(think it was 2010). Like actually sitting and playing video games. And I think this year too I'd just sit down with maybe a few friends or maybe just watch a film. I know I'd be labelled a loser but who f@cking cares.

What about you? Have you ever had "low key" new years? What about this year.

I always do nothing on NYE! I did stuff in my 20's, like go to Lake Tahoe, but no more. People are cray cray on NYE, even if they aren't other times of the year

There's nothing wrong with staying home on New Year's Eve. I've gone out on NYE in the past, but I don't care for it now.

Last time my wife and I went out New Years Eve must be oh, 20 years ago. We got dressed up, and strolled down to our local pub 'The Dog and Partridge.' It was just crazy in there, you couldn't get near the bar for the crowds. The place stunk of cigarette smoke, (this is before the ban). My wife and I just walked out of there, called in the local chinese take-away, and went home to eat the food. We have never gone out New Years since.

We have a group of friends who live around the area and each family takes it in turn to host a New Year's Eve party.

I'm quite happy to spend it quietly at home and have done in the past, but these are generally fairly low key evenings which I like.

I loved New Year's Eve parties in my 20s and 30s but I then began to view them as chores. Boring. Too many drunks on the road. Too loud. So, I usually just stay home and read, watch tv or play on the computer. I enjoy that a lot.

When I was growing up, my family were homebodies so we never went out for New Year's Eve ... The highlight was the programs on the radio stations such as the Casey Kasem countdown and the music remixes during the 80's. Now that I'm older and have friends, I usually get invited to someone's home for a New Year's party. I definitely enjoy New Years a lot more than as a young teenager/adult.

I'm a "do-nothinger" on NYE, doesn't bother me a bit now. It did for a few years but I got over it and am perfectly content watching the ball drop on t.v., if I can stay awake that long lol.

The past 5 or 6 years work has had me on the road on New Years. So, New Years Eve was spent sitting in a hotel room or working a flight. I think the last year I did anything was New Years Eve 1999. I went up North to spend it with mom and dad and sis. It was something like minus 55 at midnight. Did not spend much time outside.
