Good morning peevers.

It's a kind of good morning. We changed ISP last night and I won't go through the telephone conversations we've had this morning- that can be for a number of later peeves!

So, now that we are back online and also have wireless connection () here is today's peeve.

It is courtesy of Ruby Wilfong, and is SO appropriate to my morning's activities!

It's about instruction manuals.

I've been reading the instruction manual for our new wireless router and some simple details were missing, hence a long phone call to the help centre.

So, without further ado, Ruby's peeve is;

Bad instructions or diagrams.

Today's photo is simply of our lovely Maytree in full flower from a previous year.

I need something calming to look at at the moment!

Wow Jezer! That tree is absolutely loaded with blooms! How beautiful! I've never heard of a May tree... but I'm sure loving what I see! And since my birthday is in May, I am uploading it to my calendar so I can see it all month long next month! Than you!

And Great Peeve too! Thanks Jezer for the credit!

And now, who designs those "Blow-apart" diagrams ??? They are supposed to make things simple to put together, but then I find that the parts they show don't match what is in the kit. What's up with that

How about the so called instructions on how to work some gizmo you just bought, just to find that they make no sense, or at least not to folks like me.

I realize I am electronically challenged, however that doesn't apply to building stuff. I can read plans on building just about anything, then build it. No problem. But the instructions really MUST have the same pieces that are in the kit!

The other thing that gets to me is when a kit comes in a language I can't read. ARGH!!!

Okay, this last one I'll stop. LOL

How about a service you subscribe to? It isn't working properly so you call the number indicated. Then after wandering around their automated system hoping to finally get a human to speak with, and when/IF you get one, they talk more like a machine than the actual system! They use words that don't mean a dang thing to regular folks. So why can't they explain things better? Or how 'bout when you get a human and they have no idea what you are saying?

Okay, I'm not really done with this, but I'll stop and give someone else a chance to vent their peeve!

A very frustrating peeve. Many years ago I purchased a computer desk with shelves that required assembly. Wouldn't have been a problem except the directions were backwards/reverse order - took me forever to put the dang thing together.

The May tree is beautiful!

Bad instructions or diagrams.[/quote]

I ordered an elliptical machine two days ago. It's on the way and I will have to put it together. With previous assemblies, I've managed to get everything in the right place and I refuse to let this one defeat me. I need the exercise!

I've never found instructions that I like, or if you will.. feel smart about afterwards. I feel helpless when looking at them because theres either not enough information on everything or the steps are practically in greek. I just recently bought a portable dvd player and it sometimes loads dvd and sometimes doesnt and says "no disc". I've looked at the troubleshooting section a million times and it not once says "if it says no disc, this is what you do". It doesnt seem to be broken since sometimes it does plays dvds and plays them really well. Im leary about taking it back but it would help if I knew what to do. lol

I think they make instructions difficult on purpose, just to mess with us. Sometimes it seems the instructions you're looking at don't even correspond to the product in front of you. I support a congressional inquiry into this mentally frustrating industry.

Wasn't this yesterday's peeve? Anyhoo - it's a good one. Many times, instructions, especially with electronic technical stuff, are clear as mud and way over my head. The written instructions or diagrams inevitably don't look the same as what I actually have, and I'm left mystified as to the next step. Grrrrrrrrr.

Good peeve, Ruby and Jez!
