My family has lived in this county since the beginning of its existence. My great grandfather five generations removed owned all the land where the town is where I live. He was greatly involved in getting our town started....and sold the land to the land company which was formed to develop the town. So he owned the land on which I live and now I own it.

My brother and I are the historians for our town and have spent thousands of hours researching and documenting history. This is one of the reasons I endorse that everyone write down a page or two about their own life's history. Most local libraries are glad to have this type of documentation. I have done that and am in the process of writing an autobiography of my life in a small town.......50% done with the autobiography. Much easier for me to do it than for a future historian who lives a hundred years from now!!

For some reason I can't seem to find the list for my county. Maybe I need more coffee? At any rate, I'm pretty sure it will have Lee at the top, followed by variations on Lee. As the song in "1776" explains, around here it's "Here a Lee, there a Lee, everywhere a Lee, a Lee."

Check out the 2010 census change in population. That bright green is my county.
