Good morning peevers, and yes- it is still glorious here!
We'll be staying round here today. The coast is only twenty miles away and gets very busy when the weekend weather is as nice as this.
Last night was the annual Eurovision Song Contest, a weird competition that has been going on for well over fifty years.
It has the uncanny knack of bringing out the worst songs and acts that you have ever witnessed. However the BBC plug it like there's no tomorrow.
We are also being bombarded with endless references to next week's Queen's Diamond Jubilee and as for the Olympic Games- you see references to it everywhere.
So, my dear peevers, today's peeve focuses on hype in the media and is;
When you can't avoid an event due to media hype.
Here's a shot I took yesterday of our lovely Maytree in full flower;
I'm not looking forward to the olympic games. It will dominate tv. I don't mind the athletic events, the rest I can do without. Judy is worrying what will happen to her soap operas........
Good peeve, Jezer, and one reason I enjoy just streaming the shows I like to watch. Only a fraction of the commercials/promos as on TV.
Sliding a bit off topic never realized how many commercials were in a 60 minute show until I did start streaming them. Really sad when I see a show at 43 minutes on-line (that still has a few commercials) - that means around 20 minutes worth of them on TV
I was looking at some construction pictures of Olympic Park....quite impressive. To be honest,
I didn't know London had that much available extra room. I guess the best part is it will bring
lots of much needed revenue to those who depend on tourism.

Mrs. Tek and I were mentioning the other day that it was going to be really nice this time because we are both retired and can watch a lot more the we could when working.
There are soap operas on TV still? I guess that since I don't watch TV during the day I didn't realize. I thought it had been taken over by Doctor Phil, Rachel, Doctor Oz, Ellen, etc.
