Hi, kids! Today's Tip is a few hints from the June 2012 issue of Reader's Digest. Scroll on down and check it out!

PREPARE YOUR BACKYARD FOR SUMMER!

To clean plastic chairs, spread a little foam shaving cream on them to soften the dirt. Then hose them down to rinse away the grit.

You can tune up your gas grill by cleaning out the burners. It's simple: use a toothpick to clear minor clogs out of each gas port. For tougher clogs you can use a small drill bit.

To clean cushions for outdoor furniture, fill a spray bottle with 1 teaspoon of dishwashing detergent, 1 teaspoon of borate and 1 quart of warm water. Spray the fabric well and let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

If your patio umbrella is grungy, lay the opened umbrella on an old sheet and scrub the fabric with soapy water. Then rinse it and stand the umbrella in its base to dry in the sun.

Happy Summer!

.

I'll bet money that has actually been done. Besides the stores don't bother to collect carts that have wandered off.

Pam I only have a couple white chairs and I think I'm gonna have to paint them. Thanks for the tips on the burner cleaning. Straightened safety pins and paperclips work well. Toothpicks can break off and would be hard to recover.

I hope you can still get a can of lye in the stores. Until recent years you could get a can of lye (caustic soda) for around a dollar. Great for degrease -ing and cleaning pits. Another useful item Meth heads have probably caused to be removed from shelves!
Thanks Pam!

Try the oven cleaner. That's how I clean burned, greasy oven and grill parts

Come to think of it.. I haven't seen those two chairs lately. I may have thrown them out. Oven cleaner works well too. Thanks!
