I was dominantly lefty until I started playing sports around 6 or 7. I started batting righty, and eventually played hockey as a righty. I did this because I followed what the coaches were instructing. Anyways, that developed my coordination and I can now do everything with both hands. I write neater with my right hand, but write faster with my left. On a whiteboard, I can write two different things at the same time, but it gets difficult on paper. I choose to write with my left hand, but do other things as a righty (such as eating).
I rule myself ambidextrous.
I was born that way and can't figure out what those that are one handed do with the other hand. I have had a theory that it is something that someone can be trained to do. You are an example of that.
The only thing I can do with my right hand is use scissors.
I think that was pretty much forced upon me because I think in school they had like 3 left handed pairs in the entire place.
I am a righty...but I use my left hand for some things..although I wouldn't call myself ambidextrous. But try this for fun...try printing or writing your name with both your hands at the same time. I was boredand tried this. Even though I can write fairly well with my left hand, I could barely do it with left hand.
I'm ambidextrous. Write with my left hand, golf and tennis right hand, throw a ball with my left, scissors right, put on lipstick with my left hand, paint with left etc, etc, etc.

My sister is a lefty, and she is a very accomplished pianist, musician and artist. "They" tried to turn her into a "righty" in school, but my parents resisted. She always wonders if "they" had persisted whether she would be right-handed today, or use both hands. She says she cannot use her right hand for anything. Your question is a good one. I wonder how many lefty's were turned into righty's by schools or their parents? Be interesting to hear from some of these folks.
I’m ambidextrous, I’ll write with my left hand, draw pictures with the left and paint pictures with the right hand. I play all the sports with the right hand but work with tools in both left or right. My life is all screwed up and I’m slightly dyslexic as well.
