Good morning peevers.

Maybe I'll use that as an introductory line in future.

So what to peeve about today?

Ah- I drove up to town yesterday and there was a sign telling us to expect roadworks there for the next thirty- yes thirty!- weeks.

I'm not sure what is going on, though I might be able to guess.

Today's peeve is;

When things like that happen but you're left in the dark as to what is going on.

Hope you can find an alternate route. They seem to take forever to fix roads sometimes. I think some workers could retire on one project.

Road repair is often done in sections. And when the last section is completed, they start over again on the first section the following summer. End result is there is ALWAYS some road repair somewhere along your route every single summer. It's a never ending cycle and should be starting very soon in my area.

Default Lane closed ahead

And what makes it worse (at least in this area) is they put out big orange signs saying "Right Lane closed ahead" and everyone starts moving over to the left. You get all the way up to the road work area and beyond and the lane is open all the way!

Hey guys! You forgot to take down the sign!

Our transportation dept and the media print their road work schedules and closures on the web and in the newspapers. Sometimes on the TV news for the major freeway closures.

When they put up those " Slow Men Working " signs, they ain't just whistling Dixie!

If some of those guys moved any slower, they could die while leaning on their shovels and we wouldn't realize it for hours.

They spent seven years completely rebuilding our freeway. Wisconsin is taking until the end of time to rebuild I-94...

No kidding Have you ever noticed how many workers there are standing around? I understand in some cities that most road repairs and construction are done at night so the work gets done faster, and commuting delays are shorter. Makes complete sense to me
