Hi, kids! I sure missed you all on Saturday. I survived all night at Relay For Life, and my little team kicked butt with fund raising! I'm so proud of us. I'm pooped, so let's get right down to business with Today's Tip!
ALLERGY RELIEF
Interestingly, what you don't eat may be even more important than what you do eat. The reason . . . is that food intolerance may be far more intimately intwined with seasonal allergies than we realize.
"You have to really look at your diet and cut out any foods that seem to provoke even a mild sensitivity, such as occasional hives or even stomach upset," says [Mary Hardy, M.D.]. In doing so, she says, you can literally lighten the burden on your immune system, which in turn may help reduce the impact of seasonal allergic reactions.
According to New York University allergist Clifford Basset, M.D., if you suffer from ragweed or other weed pollen allergies, "you should avoid eating melon, banana, cucumber, sunflower seeds, chomomile, and any herbal supplements containing echinacea, all of which can make symptoms much worse," he says.
An ancient Greek doc said, "Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food". How many people take supplements like Echinacea that actually make them worse?

Good doc.
Just read the other day that magnesium is good for allergies, unless someone is allergic to magnesium.
But really, some foods have magnesium in them naturally.
Wow,,,, that’s not working for me. I suffer from allergies every year in the spring and fall; and I don’t eat any of the items that you mentioned. I hate taking drugs and will do anything to avoid the pharmaceutical companies products. I’ve found that washing my eyes and face more often during the day helps clear the pollen away that causes some of my grief. I tried locally produced bee’s honey that would be made from local native plants but that didn’t help me; they say however that it works for some people.
Canned spam rubbed into a pantyhose and placed around the neck or over the head helps with some of the weed pollen allergies, so I’ve been told. However I’ve never tried it personally.
It’s now 5/22/11 and ok to buy an extended warranty on products.
Extra rinse of nasal saline spray works for me most of the time. Thanks Pam
