Ooooo, don't you hate when that happens?! My tip? Don't take a nap in the evening!

Seriously, if I'm really having trouble falling asleep and it's not already too late, I'll take one Tylenol PM. If it's way late, though, I won't take one because then it's way too hard for me to get up at 5:50 a.m. and I'm groggy all morning. (I don't take meds very often, so when I do, they work REALLY well on me.)

Another alternative is a glass of wine or a shot of booze. Experts say that alcohol-induced sleep is not restful, but I do notice that on the occasional evening when I have a glass or two of wine I fall asleep fast and sleep like a baby. (So much for experts!)

I'm lucky. Napping doesn't stop me from sleeping later. I often nap during my lunch hours, which is a great boost, but by bedtime it's gone. I don't go to bed early, anyway, whether or not I have napped.

Sleep like a baby? You mean awake and crying every couple of hours?

When I can't sleep, I usually get up and go out to watch TV with no lights on in the living room. Usually within an hour I wake myself up, go back to bed and go right to sleep.

Some nights you sleep in shifts. The other night I slept 8p to 10p and 12a to 5a. Not what I wanted, but it worked.

I've done that too
I hate when that happens, and I'm such a bear the next day (who isn't right?), Counting sheep just doesn't help....I usually end up watching tv, thus making fall asleep and waking up later, nothing else works....

Yeah, gotta second that Big Mike. Instead of having that nap, you could have been doing other stuff, you know. You had the nap, you weren't tired, you could have been pleasuring Mrs. Mike.
