Interesting little tidbit you two - had no idea that's where it came from. Wonder what the old guy would think if he saw how his invention has evolved, especially texting on a cell. Not sure if he'd be saying Hellllllllllllllllllo or "oh "
At the other end of things: My mother never said goodbye. She just hung up when she thought the conversation was finished. Really threw a lot of people off kilter.
The Japanese version is "Hurro hurro, whutson you there"...
I know you are just joking but with all due respect the greeting for the telephone/cell in Japan is "Moshi Moshi" that is spoken with a rapid tone. The greeting has history connected with a Japanese ghost and the superstition associated with it.
