Hello friends!

This DYK goes out to all you cat owner's & cats. S'up Shredder???

Didja know..............

Tests conducted by the University of Michigan concluded that while a dog’s memory lasts no more than 5 minutes, a cat’s can last as long as 16 hours, exceeding

even that of monkeys and orangutans. No wonder your cat can't forgive you for kicking him/her off the bed last night..

Cats have much longer memories than 16 hours. Exactly what memories are they referring to??? My cat remembers me after I've been gone for 2-3 weeks. She remembers where she sleeps next to me, she remembers the actions of the puppies and keeps away from them, etc. My boy cat heard only my voice at the kennel last week and started meowing over all the dogs in the kennel! What kind of crackpots are running these tests????

I have the third most popular pet in the U.S., a ferret.

Talk about memory!

Every Tuesday night at around 10:30pm he comes to my desk, brushes up against me, to tell me: It's time to put on the leash and take a walk!

And even on our walks, he remembers particular places he makes a beeline for, including an area in front of someone's townhouse here, where a frog has burrowed into the ground. No matter how hard I try to distract him, he must make that stop every time we take a walk. But, I won't allow him to disturb that frog!

Being I also walk him on the Las Vegas Strip at night, he certainly remembers elevators and what they do. He finds one, scratches and tries to pull the doors open with his paws. Yup! He wants a ride!

Wow! That's crazy!! I had no idea they were the 3rd most popular pet. I would have thought rabbit, guinea pig, etc., before I ever thought of ferrets!

How come he only gets walked once a week?

Agree, cats have longer memories. I took a sick cat to the vet for an antibiotic shot in January 2010. He wouldn't let me near him again until almost a year later. True story.

Cats have good brains just like we do. They remember things just like we do.
