Oviedo is an area that rests right above East Orlando. It is a nice little town that actually has its own government, as Oviedo is an official entity. I would highly recommend it, as I have spent much time around the area as my Fiance lives just a few minutes south. It is close enough to everything to have great day trips yet a good distance out to live a calm, relaxing, rural life.

My husband and I are looking to move to the Orlando area, we are looking at ovideo and winter springs, we are moving from Columbus Ohio he is a local CDL trucker driver and I'm a property manager. We have no kids, and we are in are early fifties and looking for a safe quiet area!! We are coming to Florida in June for 5 days to visit and see what areas would be the best fit, any suggestions???

I would lean towards Winter Springs due to the fact that it is more quiet. Most every Oviedo restaurant/grocery store is filled with kids. Not saying that it's a bad thing, great place to raise a family as both areas are safe and have great schools.

special needs kids' services are so poor here. AVOID SEMINOLE COUNTY (OVIEDO). they limit the services they provide for kids with needs even more than orange county (which isnt the greatest either). u will have to outsource many private services, which, if u have extra funding, doesnt seem like a big deal, but it's the time sucked away from the child after school only to miss out on free play, extra curriculars and rushing dinner and homework to get to bed. most services for kids with needs are out in winter park / maitland. oviedo schools have a good reputation, yes, but not for kids with needs.
