My husband and I will be returning to Orlando for a short term contract. We are looking for a nice house in a decent area to rent for short term. 3 to 4 months. The contract could turn into longer but we will not know till Sept. So far all I have found is 1 year leases and we dont want to go that far till we are sure in Sept. 2 years ago we lived in a nice house in Davenport with 4 bedrooms and a pool for 1100$ a month. We are kind of looking for the same this time.

Any ideas, thoughts, or pushes in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

You could look at resort communities in either davenport or kissimmee and negotiate directly with the owner. In the current economy renting for 3-4 months would be a blessing!

Thank you... that is really what I was looking for. I am hoping for a touristy rental so my kids can have a "vacation" of sorts. We just came back from Holland and are trying to refamiliarize with everything.

Does anybody know of anybody with a rental that needs tenants?

VRBO® is Vacation Rentals By Owner (http://www.vrbo.com - broken link)

what I would do is drive around the communities and find the one I liked the most and then talk to the management office and check out the offers on VRBO and negotiate a good deal. This way I know which one to focus on.

You can't do that in most of the short term communities as they are gated. Also they aren't going to have "for rent" signs in the window--completely against HOA rules.

They will let you in if you asked to visit the management company/reception area. Once you decide on the one you want you can talk to them about renting, even though they dont have "for rent" on them....technically most of them are for rent!

Many of them don't have rental offices on site. With most of the ones I'm aware of, each home owner arranges for property management on their own through one of many local property management companies.
